Aardman Academy
I completed a three-month industry training course with Aardman Academy which is an alternative to traditional education. This taught me the fundamentals of stop-motion and character animation as well as gave me the experience of working alongside experts in the field such as head of Animation Loyd Price and Co-founder of Aardman Peter Lord.

HOME
"Helping Once Means Everything"
Homelessness is an ongoing and complex issue. The homeless are often dehumanised and blamed for their situation rather than given the support they need to get back on their feet. This stop-motion animation was created to humanise the homeless, display the structural issue of affordable housing, and the issues of mental health and addiction. Addiction is often misunderstood, being seen as the cause of traumatic events, rather than as a result of them, as is usually the case.
HOME: Creation
I created this stop-motion animation on the issue of homelessness as part of my Final Year Design Project. The project took place in March 2020 causing limitations with space and resources as this was during the first National lockdown of Covid19.
It took 2 weeks to build the characters and sets and another 2 weeks to shoot the stop-motion. The video consists of 1300 photographs compiled on Adobes Premiere Pro using a Nikon 3500 camera and a basic stand and lighting.
I made the sets from recycled plastic and cardboard, and the armatures from wire, clay, epoxy putty, and recycled fabric.
